BEEF N' BLUES PRESENTS:
CHEF Lori AT Anson's Restaurant and Bar
Chef Lori Rice is proud of her time at Anson's Restaurant and Bar. She knew at an early age that she had found her calling. It all started years ago growing up in Enfield, Nova Scotia, while working as a pump attendant at an Irving Big Stop, she was asked if she would like to pick up some hours in the kitchen. She fell in love with the rush of the kitchen and providing "down-home", "family-style" meals.
After moving to Summerside, PEI, she got a position at Anson's Restaurant and was in the first class to graduate with new the TIAPEI (Tourism Industry Association of Prince Edward Island) SUPERHOST Certification. One of the things Chef Lori loves about Anson's is creating "true Island food" and catering to the variety of training organizations that use the Park and the private aircraft visiting the Slemon Park airport. Anson's has catered to such notables as a Florida NHL team, comedians, musicians and has received compliments from three former Canadian Prime Ministers on Anson's Seafood Chowder. This seafood chowder is one of Chef Lori's favorite dishes on the menu.
"There's no short-cuts when making this dish. That's why I love making it." - Says Lori about Anson's Seafood Chowder
This will be the fourth year Chef Lori and her associate Chef Stella Gauthier have been a part of Beef n' Blues. They love the crazy rush of preparing for the event and being part of the organized chaos on event day. It's also an opportunity for these chefs to work outside of the kitchen, catch up with other local chefs and interact with their patrons.
